I'm wondering what class to pick after I'm done getting my priest to 70. I've made a character for each class. Also, my mining is about 150. I'm going to keep tailoring and powerlevel it when I hit 70, but I'm thinking of dropping mining for enchanting? Is this a good idea?
Thanks all.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 9:51amMining can get you a lot of cash, but so can enchanting. My main is/was a miner/enchanter, and money was never in short supply. The nice thing about enchanting is you'll rarely have to buy mats for your own enchants.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 10:49amI would keep mining. My warlock is an enchanter/tailor, and trying to get both to 375 eats up gold at an astonishing rate.
Enchanting used to be profitable (I sold enchants regularly on the AH bridge in IF on Silvermoon for many months), but now even the higher-end enchants are so common that you can't charge much (if anything) for them. When it comes to income, at least with Tailoring you can craft items and sell them in the AH, plus craft BoP items for your own use.
Also frustrating about Enchanting is that most other crafting professions have had some great faction reward recipes added with recent patches, while Enchanting still has little or nothing. For this reason alone, if I hadn't already invested so much time and $$$$ in the profession I would probably switch to something else.
My $0.02.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 10:55amAs for a new class to focus on, I'd suggest picking something distinctly different from a priest in play style, to freshen things up and give you something to switch to when you're tired of doing the healing thing. Perhaps a rogue (all about maneuvering and DPS) or hunter (DPS plus tactical use of pets).

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 11:00amEnchanting isn't great. It's the quintessential "know an enchanter but don't be one" profession. It's nice to be able to DE things, so for this reason it's good to have an enchanter alt leveled just high enough to be able to DE everything, and use it as a gathering profession, just to get enchanting mats. For your main i'd stick with a true gathering profession.
it depends on what you want, which class you should level. The only class I would say you shouldn't level is a mage. Also hunter, since you already have a high-ish level one. I tend to prefer hybridy-type classes, like druid, shaman, paladin, or warrior, that can fill multiple roles depending on what you want to do.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 11:14amMages are the most balla class ever. John is just jealous he doesn't have one.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 12:23pmI agree with Vas. Mages are the shit.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 1:41pmMages are a blast to play, I have a 70 one but my brother is playing him right now so he didn't have to relevel something on my server. They have a lot of options in terms of specs too.
If you wanna get about as far from priest as you can get then it is rogue/warrior. I have played both. Both kinda suck to level early on though in my opinion. Once warriors get mortal strike and then can switch to a decent DW spec they are really fun to level. Same with rogues. All of a sudden around 25 or 30 my rogue just started blowing up targets. I have him up to 42 now. My warrior is in the mid 60's. Still have a soft spot for warriors too.
Also on the Enchanting, my sham is an enchanter/leatherworker. Trying to push both from 325 to 375 will eat up a ridiculous ammount of gold. Neither pays off that well @ 375 either.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 2:27pmFor an alt I think it's important to try and relearn the game so to speak. My main is a rogue so I wanted to see what tanking was like so I rolled a Paladin. I also wanted to wear plate and shields etc. as opposed to leather and daggers. It's good if you can set up a symbiotic relationship between your alts for mats needed for whatever profession you're interested in. My main is Alchemy/Enchanting and my alt Engineering/Herbology. My alt farms the herbs for my pots and my main DE's the gear, engineering is great for mote farming and the BoP goggles are better than t5.
If I were you, I would roll a DPS character that isn't dependent on mana or casting for a change of pace. Try a rogue, warrior, or a feral druid.

Tue, 05/06/2008 - 4:02pmI'm enjoying leveling paladin like mad.
I hate shaman, dislike warrior, and enjoy rogue.
Of course, I only have 10-15 levels of experience in each, so I dunno.

Wed, 05/07/2008 - 6:44amShaman aren't nearly as fun to play until you get DW and water shield. I went entire levels between 60 and 70 w/o ever sitting down to drink because water shield would pretty much keep my mana full. DW + WF is crazy. When I am leveling something I am always a fan of having to mash buttons. The more buttons I have to mash the less I notice the time going by it seems.
