THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.
LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses logic detail oriented facts rule words and language present and past math and science can comprehend knowing acknowledges order/pattern perception knows object name reality based forms strategies practical safe
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS uses feeling "big picture" oriented imagination rules symbols and images present and future philosophy & religion can "get it" (i.e. meaning) believes appreciates spatial perception knows object function fantasy based presents possibilities impetuous risk taking
>So after experimenting with this whenever I begin to read something it goes clockwise and whenever I look at the shadow of the extended foot it goes counter clockwise (default for me is counterclockwise though) If I only have the two legs (knee and down) on screen and I read soemthing (new) and then look up at the center foot then soemtimes the outer foot rotates the opposite way
I'm wondering what the switch from left to right brain-side takes to accomplish (easy transition or requires adjusting, energy, ect)

Tue, 02/19/2008 - 1:20pmI did save it then browsed for it in the attachment thing, then it just came up with that code stuff, maybe since i got the data from my Comp class' web page it messed up, but if you google left or right brained it should come up, there are actually a few pages that state this doesn't work, but we should see how our results fit into the equation

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 10:04amThe Facebook application for finding out if you're right or left brained uses the same test. Someone sent it to me last night, coincidentally.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:47ami can only see it moving clockwise. I couldn't even make it go counter-clockwise when i tried to focus on it. weird...

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:50amIf you concentrate on her ankle, you can make it look like she's spinning 180 degrees, back and forth. Then, you just stop concentrating when she's going the direction you want her to be going.
Magic!

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:51amI don't know if this is my computer loading it weird (and I have tried finding it from different places to counteract that) but all I see is her going a bit, sticking and then going a bit again...she never fully rotates...

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:56amRight, you described exactly what I proposed to fix. However, you could try opening it with something that isn't your browser, in case it's your browser's fault.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 11:59amClearly you need to reread my post.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 12:04pmSince you admitted that loading might be the issue, and then described the behavior of a .gif that isn't fully loaded, I don't see what's wrong in my saying that it needs to load.
What you might be describing as well, though your wording is rather ambiguous, is that the .gif loops before the animation is complete. For this, I proposed the second solution: opening the .gif with something that might read .gifs better.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 12:07pmI know how .gifs work, Tim. I also have tried opening it with different things and from difference sources and from different browsers and all sorts of things. I still always see it do what I said I saw it do. MAYBE it is a .gif problem, but I know to let a .gif load.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:02pmIt was spinning clockwise for about 15 seconds. Then I went heroes on it and it turned around, totally blowing my mind.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:37pmStarted out clockwise, then I reloaded and it reversed direction.
I was like "mmm, spinning....nice gradients" and then reloaded and was like "this gif could use better frame timing".

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:57pmIt started out clockwise for me. I tried getting it to go counter-clockwise, but I couldn't do it for a few minutes. I got pretty frustrated, and then it switched over to counter-clockwise. Then I couldn't get it to go back for a couple minutes. Now I can switch it at will.

Wed, 02/20/2008 - 7:19pmspending mroe time with it (20+ mins) allows for mroe control, although if it the switching between the different sides of the brain then I wonder what switching causes, lapses of a few miliseconds? or maybe it doesn't do anything except instantly switch thinking from logic to creative, if that
One thing that is creepy/fun is to get her going clockwise(for me) and then stare at her center foot's shadow and thin kthe opposite direction and soon enough the shadow goes the opposite way, and sometimes so do the
also an easy way to change it for me is also to look at it with your peripherals (spelling?) and let the bottom back of your brain get a sinking feeling (kinda when one zones out) and then she goes clockwise for me
Brian
Thu, 02/21/2008 - 9:11amI first saw it only go clockwise , and also getting frustrated I realized if I focused on the reflection I could shift it at my will. It's fun to make it go back and forth like she's crazy.

Fri, 02/22/2008 - 6:43amthis was so kewl....she first went counterclockwise....as i read the difference in the left and right brain functions......then i relooked at her and he was going clockwise.....so i did it again.....and again and again....each time she changed directions.....woot!! Fri, 02/22/2008 - 3:26pmI just made her leg bend through the 4th dimension. I win!
Also, Tigue, I read somewhere that this is bull as a right brain/left brain test.

Aha. I guess it wasn't doubting the effectiveness of the dancer as a test, but the existence of hemispheric dominance in the first place.
Carry on >_>
Tigue (not verified)
Sat, 02/23/2008 - 9:32amWoah, That one, for whatever reason, works. And I see her going clockwise.
"We also do have hemispheric dominance, but that determines mostly your handedness and the probability of language being on the right or the left. There is also often asymmetry for memory, with some being right or left hemisphere dominant. But none of this means that your personality or abilities are more right brain or left brain. That much is nonsense."
So, I think they're more against the idea of personality or trait differences due to which side is dominant, not that a side is dominant.
Later they also explain that using one test, and this girl and the other one they provide are both not tests, doesn't work either.

Sat, 02/23/2008 - 12:44pmI saw it going counter clockwise at first and it wouldn't change. I came back a day alter and it seemed to switch back and forth fairly randomly.
This could be because I was at work both times.
