Exceedingly Zzzzz. The second reporter is even worse than the first one. I'm constantly amazed at how robotic reporters are on camera. I actually lol'd at her calling him darling and quoting some random 'study'. XD
The video game industry is now larger than the film industry and people continue to single out games and flip out about sex and violence. Mind boggling.

Thu, 01/24/2008 - 4:00pmdude, it's hard to articulate my anger at this, since it clearly points to the general attitude of most of america. say what you will about Fox News being a fringe network that spouts editorial content under the guise of newscasting. the fact is, there's a reason they're so successfull: what they say reasonates with people. this hostile ignorance mixed with a combination of sanctimonious posturing, self-righteousness, and anti-intellectualism seems so impenetrable and so ubiquitous . . . seriously, i can handle a lot of bullshit but this is the one thing that makes me really hate it in this country. the uk is turning into a "nanny state", yes, but at least it's okay to be smart there.
sorry, had to rant a little. it's not the video game thing that pisses me off, its the whole damn policy this culture seems to have.

Thu, 01/24/2008 - 4:46pmI love how they all shrug off the idea of parents actually being involved in the kind of content they object to.

Thu, 01/24/2008 - 7:24pmIt totally makes sense. To "reasonate with" would mean to resonate with, due to sounding reasonable.

Thu, 01/24/2008 - 7:42pmOMG YOU HAVE TO PICK UP THE BOX AND LOOK AT IT TO SEE THE RATING!!!
Unlike movies and TV, or...books, which aren't rated at all.
Fox teaches us that molehills are really big.

Thu, 01/24/2008 - 11:44pmIT could be worse, you could live in Canada and put up with the extremely biased Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Fri, 01/25/2008 - 8:55amPar for the Fox News course. You should have seen their report on Doom II (1994) being the cause of the Columbine massacre (1999)....pure genius, complete with screen captures of...wait for it...Half-Life.
Anyone who trusts Fox News is likely too far gone to bring back anyway.

As much as I agree with you, Rew, I think it would be better if we didn't poison the well. I'm sure there are people who watch Fox News simply because they don't know of any other options, same as there are people who only shop at Wal-Mart because they don't know of any other options, etc. I think there's plenty of people who trust Fox News that can be "brought back" if they're made aware of other options. Sure, there's plenty die-hard Fox News watchers who would dismiss what we're saying as liberal tripe, but I think that's exactly why we shouldn't do the same to their side.
Then again, I'm known to be a bit of a hopeless idealist :).

Fri, 01/25/2008 - 11:24amIt's true. One of the things that scares me the most is when people are unaware that there are even opposing ideas than the ones they know simply because they've never been exposed to them. That's why things like being able to customize your news headlines, relevance feedback systems (sort of like amazon's) and other things like that scare me. They're not bad if you know there is other stuff out there and you just want quick updates or a place to start, but for a lot of people it can make their already narrow range of information sources even more narrow.

Fri, 01/25/2008 - 5:12pmAside of the sex/nudie tripe that was shovelled. What I got from it was another febble attempt at emasculinating men/young boys. The whole argument of boys becoming more violent because of video games is complete horseshit because I come from the pre-Atari era and I tell you what, FOX would shit their pants if they did a story on some of the crap we pulled as kids.
They did a social experiment on young boys at the University of Washington recently where the boys could only play with girl toys such as Barbie, tea sets, etc. for a long period of time. You know what happened? The boys made weapons out of the Barbies.
The blatant hypocrisy of FOX and the liberal media never ceases to amaze me.

Fri, 01/25/2008 - 5:47pmI read that like FOX was part of the "liberal media" hehehe. also, I would have to say that "liberal media" and "conservative christian media" (or whatever you want to call it) are both equally responsible for the pussification of america. i'm going to give my kids the dangerous book for boys and hope they find adventure (regardless of their sex, of course).

Fri, 01/25/2008 - 7:23pmI agree also that "conservative media" has done a fine job at "de-balling" men.
However, I am seeing a resurgence of men finding their testicles in Christ follower life path circles.

Sun, 02/10/2008 - 11:47amhehe yeah, that game was fun just beat it again last year, Zap Tap is the best at taking down fuzzies though
Also with all the different types of Shy Guys in that game one would think they would make a Shy Guy game, maybe even an RTS :p

Sun, 02/10/2008 - 11:54amBut about the Fox report it is kinda funny that they messed up on their data and at most watched the trailers. It is resaonable that EA didn't make them pay any repercussions but a corporation as big as Fox can do mostly anything they want to do unless enough people object to it. Not sure if I'm roo accurate about this but although the Daily Show and Colbert Report are liberally biased they do have plenty of people from the other party come on and talk, sometimes they get into a heated debate and sometimes they have good discussions(and sometimes the guests are made fun of without them even noticing). But with all things, "Cum grano salis"

Sun, 02/10/2008 - 8:35pmI guess the biggest difference is that the daily show and cobert report both know they're not news, while fox news insists that they are.
