Thu, 05/22/2008 - 11:21amI bought it yesterday. As far as the game itself goes, it's just okay. Whacking boxes for items and getting in turn-based combat seems to be the whole of it. However, the writing and general charm of the game is so great that it makes it a good game. It's just exactly like playing through the Penny Arcade comic. It's really funny and well written. Thumbs up.

Fri, 05/23/2008 - 7:47amI played it yesterday, Matthew bought it. I enjoyed all the wacky jokes and sayings, but I got bored of whacking things and I am not particularly good at the combat. Too much going on at once for me, at least once I had three characters. It was fun, but I know myself well enough to know that it would frustrate me as things got harder.
So I will likely content myself to watching Matthew play it, because then I get all the jokes without the need for being successful at the game myself.
Also, the options for lady character design are more limited than those for the dudes (according to Matthew, as he watched me make a character). QQQQ
I mean, I'm kind of used to it, but I think I had higher standards for Gabe and Tycho.

Mon, 06/16/2008 - 8:26amSo the PA game is now available via Steam making it super easy to buy and play, which I did, and did.
First impressions: it's fun and comic book looking, not quite like you're in a PA comic but pretty close. The humor is sort of obvious and kinda feels like they're trying too hard sometimes but there are some pretty amusing little obscure bits that work well and had me chuckling.
The combat system is pretty simple but I don't yet have the hang of special attacks and timing. It's turn based but real time and so still requires decent reflexes to perform blocks and manage multiple characters in your group.
I've also figured out an easy way to farm itams! >.>
All in all pretty fun, I'll post again when I've beaten it (Fap did you beat it yet? And by it I mean the game...)

Okay, it's out of my system.
Yeah, I beat the game a while ago. I liked it over all. My biggest complaint is the lack of environments. There's only like four, and one is a single room. The ending was cool though, and I'm sure that I'll be buying the next one when it comes out. Oh, one thing I had trouble with was the special moves, in that they never EVER popped up as an option. I think I got to do three super moves total. Is there some way to get them to pop up as options?
Oh, I did get the cat to do the devistating hairball attack! It did 999 damage to all the enemies on screen : D
