Thanks to your slew of "omg I have poison ivy again" posts I now directly associate you with the dreaded weed...so I felt that I should share this unfortunate article with you.

Sun, 04/19/2009 - 7:09pmJust thinking about poison ivy makes me break out. I guess i need to find a way to immunize myself before it gets to be too bad! (I HAVE been noticing that there seems to be a good amount of poison ivy out there--even some on campus! It also tends to grow in disturbed areas, like places where humans cut down brush and trees, making an excellent place for poison ivy to start growing.)
I'm going to need more Tecnu this summer QQ

Mon, 04/20/2009 - 10:14amHmm...that doesn't look a thing like real poison ivy...she's just a flora poser!
Not tri-leaf patter, glossy leaves or furry stem!

Sun, 05/03/2009 - 11:24amWell, imagine this: Being afflicted with poison ivy for three months during the 5th grade. Not being able to sleep well because every time you toss or turn the bumps flair up. Then in the following years each encounter ends up with bumps on the hands (and one case a leaf swiped my arm leaving its mark and even today it has residual itching). So, whenever I go out into the woods I'm on the lookout for this plant, trying to avoid its horrendous oils and hoping to see it before it gets me. So, when I'm turning corners and see it growing up a tree and reaching out over the road, stretching towards me with glistening leaves I tend to jump to the other side of the road. Yet even then I usually encounter that three fingered menace after a while there too. This plant has gotten into my mind even, just seeing it makes my legs itch now and that feeling one gets when they hear a Witch is pretty close to how I feel when looking at some foliage and noticing half of it is out to get me.

Mon, 05/11/2009 - 6:17amBram, you know to stay away from all forms of Mango right? It will probably break you out like Poison Ivy. They are related.

Mon, 05/11/2009 - 8:07amThere was a 2 for 1 sale of mango at the grocery store the other day....we bought seven. I don't think I can resist eating them though. As far as I know mango fruit doesn't have the same asocial behavior poison ivy does. It's the specific oil that poison ivy/oak/sumac produced that I react to (as it is intended to).
