Well, I'm ass-deep in FFX right now. I just got to the Al Bhed city to get Yuna back. I don't know if I've out-grown japanese rpgs, or if I've just been given better options lately, but this game seems more boring than I remember. Also, I'm deep into Shadow Hearts: Covenant, which is still as totally awesome as I remember. Started a game of Beyond Good and Evil but haven't really got into it yet, and I played Tekken 4 the other day for the first time in YEARS and it was great. I need to get whatever the latest Tekken is. I used to be a master at that game, and now I can barely make the panda sit down. I would be playing Fallout 3's new content, but OF COURSE my dad has my copy. He really needs to start getting his games from major retailers instead of me. I keep wanting to try Team Fortress 2 since I own the Orange Box and have never played it, but I'm too afraid to go on by myself and confront the xbox live community at large. I'm such an internet wimp; I've never played anything on xbox live that wasn't a one-on-one golf match with my buddy Richard.
In real life I've been playing GURPS Supers, which is awesome on so many levels. I don't know how many people here have played GURPS, but you would have to have played it a few times to know the deep satisfaction of getting to make a 1000 point character. Normal GURPS characters are 150 points, and you have to scrape up every freakin' point you can to not die right away. I have two really awesome characters that I made. One is like a sociopathic witch hunter, but for supers. He can neutralize super powers, and neither super power nor psi powers work on him. He also has this thing called injury tolerance where any damage he takes is first divided by 70 before applying the damage. To give you perspective, a bullet from a 9 millimeter pistol does 2d6+2 damage (i think). He always takes at least 1 point of damage (his life points are a little above average - 15), but it would take a direct hit from a missile launcher to do more than one. He's kind of got the demeanor of Batman, but more willing to kill than Batman is. My other character is kind of like Captain Planet, but twenty years after his career ended. He's like 56, has a near debilitating rage problem, is an alcoholic, has a severe phobia of entering into a marital relationship, and is incredibly dangerous. He can lift 3 tons and can shoot bolts of lightening and water and shit. He was the leader of a world-class team of supers in the 80s called the Eco Rangers, but has since totally turned into a joke on the E! network. He's currently in the hospital and is being charged with involuntary manslaughter (that all happened in game).
I only get to play games every once in a while now because of stupid school. As soon as I'm finished writing this I'm going to need to research Gabriel Garcia Marquez, do about 40 calculus problems, then calculate the frequencies of the light given off by hydrogen and helium based on experimental data. I would have had the calculus problems pared down, but as I opened my book I found myself embedded in a discussion about religion with a Mormon. It was like a land war in Asia, I just couldn't withdraw no matter what I did. Somehow I was able to explain to him why I thought religion was bad without offending him, which was pretty cool, but it took about an hour and a half, which was not cool.
Ahh...the days of making calculations with experimental data (and the days of making calculations that didn't fit the theoretical and therefore were counted as WRONG by the Lab prof...they didn't seem to realize that if they tell us to use the experimental data to try and find the theoretical that we won't get exactly what has been determined by doing hundreds/thousands of tests to come up with an ideal norm)
