Totally random but cool. Most of you probably know that Google now owns Youtube. And Google also likes to add random cool features to Gmail that they don't really publicize. Well now apparently when you link a Youtube video in Gmail chat it also embeds a playable thumbnail automatically. And when you click on that it brings up a video window above that person's chat window. Pretty cool!

Fri, 01/23/2009 - 1:48pmAnother neat feature I only know about because of Matthew is SMS. Maybe others here are more observant. You can send messages to someone's phone through gchat, and they can in turn respond back to you, and on your end it looks just like a regular chat. This is especially awesome if you have a boyfriend who keeps his phone on vibrate, leaves his phone in his pants pocket, but doesn't get out of his bathrobe until after noon on the weekend. I can text him from my normal phone to gmail chat. You should be conscientious of the other person's texting plan however. You can tell gmail to not allow anyone to send SMS chats to your phone if you don't want that.
Just click on the Video and More button in an open chat.
