I think you should stay away. Any slightest bit of afking will get you promptly infected unless you are at least a couple hundred feet in the air. If you do go online, I suggest you find a way to track undead, because your every activity will be affected by the presence of a multitude of undead griefers.
Yeah, what Thal said. It's not that bad in outlying areas if you're high level, but Ironforge and Stormwind are pits of frustration if you have to go there to actually accomplish anything.
I appreciate the excitement of a world event and all, but Bliz doesn't seem to have thought some of the mechanics of this one through very well. A lower level player could easily spend an half an hour trying to buy something on the AH with this going on, if they don't give up and log off in disgust. It took me the better part of an hour this afternoon to find a live warlock trainer to respec.
If can definitely be frustrating if you're trying to fly somewhere and the Flightmaster is dead and and there are zombies everywhere and no one who can dispell you but at the same time turning into a zombie and lurching around infecting every player and npc you see is a lot of fun.
Yea, it's disruptive but it's a one time server event that'll be done soon enough and then it'll be WoTLK time! Woo!
You can two-shot any zombie if you're a geared level 70 attacking at range. If you're lower level or standing too close, you're infected and then dead, or often just dead right away. Also, with the roaches it doesn't even work to be attacking at range -- kill one from 30 yds away and you still get infected. :P And did I mention that Cure Disease etc often does not work against an infection, and the healers that are supposed to dispel the infections are almost always dead?
Unless you enjoy griefing and/or are just oblivious to how much running around infecting others can screw up things for them: not fun.
But yeah, if you're into it, I'd definitely recommend logging on and trying to fiinish a quest or even visit the bank or check your mail in a major city, just to see first-hand how much fun it is.
Running into the bank to find it full of zombies is like the funniest thing evar! Granted, I couldn't make any withdrawals other than BRAAAAAAAINS but it was amusing nonetheless.
Also, flying into Southshore and having a sea of red text and green plague clouds load right as you're landing is extra rofls. XD
I really like this, and /shame on those not getting in the spirit! (although DS is one of the ppl who is supposed to be AHing the GB stuff, so some credit to his statement) but this brings back memories of the original Scourge plague and is supposed to give people the understanding of how bad it is
also I think they could add a new tooltip to Cleanse: "Cleanse, new and improved [answer] for the Stratholme method!"
Looks like you can't get infected by zombies anymore after today, but then again other events leading up to WoTLK are picking up and the necropolis attacks will be around still for some time.
Personally I thought it was a lot of fun. It gave me a chance to stop the boring doldrums of the same dailies, every day, and start doing other things like exploring more and getting back to finishing accomplishments or other random things I had put on hold for one reason or another. If I needed to AH, I just went to the Exodar because it was quiet and everything was still alive, or so it seemed. If there were zombies, I never saw them there.
Also, being a zombie was fun. It was really fun. I mean, when might this happen again? The last time it did was a couple of years ago, and I think a game altering experience on this scale was refreshing. Enjoy these things while it lasts because these are the last weeks of The Burning Crusade. All the gear and content we have seen albeit rather old now, will be subject to be left the same as old world content is now; only being run for accomplishments or for the sake of people wanting to remember when Molten Core was IT. Of course, high end things will stilll probably get run just after LK hits, but their popularity will dwindle as guilds and alliances turn their sights to the new content.
So really, I guess I'm just trying to say, enjoy everything for what it is, because it wont be the same two weeks from now.
Lame...the fear and annoyance of the zombies should be something these players NEVER forget!
buut i guess Blizz wants to hold onto its gold...erm cash?
I went to download the patch(s?) last night and the downloader was all YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM ON YOUR HARDDRIVE and I was like fuck that, i do not feel like dealing with that right now.
I will play with it more when i get home, but I assume i will have missed the best of the zombie invasion if they are patching that shit today. QQ
I know I deleted all my screenshots last time I stopped paying for WoW, which I think was sometime earlier this year? can't remember. Anyways I doubt that's the problem. But if I can get rid of all the old patches, that is good.
sheesh you ppl and your lack of 208GB of free space... (j/k...really wish I could give some1 here my PS2 HDD)
as for screen shots...I need to get my photo bucket thing set up and put all my Zombie photos there (so you don't fully miss out)
Sadly I think this portion of the event ended much to soon...or escalated much too quickly....I would have liked to see them continue to ratchet the pressure up on everyone heading into the xpac...
I personally think that things will start moving forward again soon once they get the hallows eve stuff out of the way.
Need to have an attack force of nerubians, Meanie Greenies(Infected Abominations)ghosts, zombies, vampire lords
And Banshees that posses ppl!
as for Vampire lords, their loyalty was to the Burning Legion ,and the LK's Jailors...so they probably wouldn't help unless forced into it (like Sylvannis did to one of them)

Mon, 10/27/2008 - 2:09amThat's why they have dudes who dispel the infection and kill any zombies that come near them asap.
Also, you can pretty much two shot any zombie.

Mon, 10/27/2008 - 12:14pmI'm sad to see this go.
I think they are ending it early just because all the QQ.
In other mmo's they would destroy major cities that people frequented.
I think it adds to the game personally

Mon, 10/27/2008 - 12:51pmWhat they are ending it? Better not be before tonight! I will be full of QQ.
I love this kind of stuff, and it's never for that long. My friend Bryan was over last night, and he still plays a lot and was telling me about it.
