Ben and I were in a 2v2 match against a Warlock and a Priest. The Warlock and I killed each other in the first 30 seconds, and Ben and the Priest proceeded to chase each other around for 29 minutes. I think it would have gone on indefinitely, but Ben just gave up eventually. Over two hours would be just awful.

Yeah, that sucked.

Except you can still do one, and not the other. Can someone stop being condescending and explain what's up?

FINE. IT'S LIKE TRYING TO OLO MINDBLAST while holy spec.

Seriously though, one of the worst things a full resto or resto/balance druid can do when fighting a warrior or rogue is go bear (in one on one situations). I find it tremendously easy to kill balance (minus the moonkin form) druids if they shift into bear. Same thing goes for resto druids. Sure, it takes longer, but they have virtually no damage output in bear (or cat for that matter) unless they have some portion of their talent points invested into the feral tree.

I understand that in a situation against a rogue, it would be bad. But what about a holy priest?

The thing about Druids is that our base abilities are extremely weak, and our talents and gear are extremely powerful. If you are a level 70 Druid with no talent points in Feral Combat wearing no gear that would increase your effectiveness in cat or bear form, then shifting to either of these forms is effectively crowd controlling yourself. The only reason to shift to cat in this case is to stealth and then pounce for the stun, which Ben did a couple times (he also went bear a couple times to bash), but shifting to cat and trying to actually DPS in that form would have been suicidal.

It's hard to make an analogy of a non-DPS-specced Priest trying to DPS, since a Balance/Resto Druid in cat form would do far less DPS than a Holy/Disc Priest just using smite, mind blast, etc.

When Ben needed to DPS, he would put on his Balance outfit. When the Priest wanted to DPS he went Shadow Form. The reason the match went on indefinitely is that they were both really good at using the pillar to kite each other. They were also both good at using Cyclone or Fear when they needed to heal or go reset the fight.

I wasn't trying to be condescending. I honestly thought you were joking. Sorry!

<3?

OH. He was shadow. Say no more :). That's all I was asking - it would seem like his damage output would just really not be enough to last against Ben if he didn't have the punch of shadow form.

SHADOWPUNCHCUNT

That fight was lost because I couldn't hit him with anything other than insect swarm or moonfire, which he would just dispel. Not because of shadow form doing more damage or whatever. A holy priest would have been just as bad. unless I have some sort of instant snare that he can't just dispel, there's no way I could have actually done it. Like Sumul said, I didn't "lose" so much as I gave up because it was boring as hell.

Whenever I got close enough to do anything at all, he'd just psychic scream. I had him at 30% and 2% mana once and he got away long enough to get into healer gear and just regen himself back up to full while kiting me around a pillar. It sucked a lot.

Ben would do pretty much the same thing to him whenever he decided to try to kill Ben too. It was funny as hell.
