although in RoC she was a unique Banshee...then turns into a Dark Ranger in TFT
did I miss her gaining power that gave her a corporeal form, or did they just decide to make her a human?
I think sometime between RoC and TFT, Sylvanas either possessed the body of another high elf or re-inhabited her own body. I personally really like the dark ranger look.
Also, I am wondering about what happened to her elder sister Alleria Windrunner...I thought we were going to see all the heroes of the Alliance Expedition in Outland, but Turalyon and Alleria never showed up.
Sylvanas's younger sister, Vereesa, will be making an appearance in WotLK, part of a militant group of high elves who oppose the inclusion of blood elves in the Kirin Tor...which would seemingly set her firmly against her horde-affiliated sister.
Also, I am wondering about what happened to her elder sister Alleria Windrunner...I thought we were going to see all the heroes of the Alliance Expedition in Outland, but Turalyon and Alleria never showed up.
They went to SW were too embarrassed by the giant statutes of their figures that they decides to sell children baby crocolisks
Also, good note on the Possession part of being a banshee >.< forgot about that
Also I never got to play WC I and II, but I guess they did go to the outland there and fought off the orcs?
I'd <3 and recap or summary of those 2 games
I never played WC I and II, but from reading wowwiki articles on lore (b/c nerdy geek), in WC II, the alliance forces drive the orcs (who are at the time fueled by a demonic bloodlust from Mannoroth) back through the dark portal into Draenor. The alliance sends an expedition into Draenor to ensure the orcs do not regroup and begin a new assault; this expedition includes Archmage Khadghar, Danath Trollbane, Kurdran Wildhammer, General Turalyon, and Alleria Windrunner.
The elder orc shaman, Ner'zhul (future lich king) tries to open many portals to other worlds to obtain artifacts of power, but this act begins to rip Draenor apart. To protect Azeroth from Draenor's destruction, the members of the Alliance Expedition decide to destroy the Dark Portal from the Draenor side. They succeed, and flee through one of the portals created by Ner'zhul as Draenor is engulfed with destruction (at least the Hellfire Peninsula; seems like Nagrand/Terokkar/Zangarmarsh escaped the apocalypse). With the Dark Portal destroyed, the orcs remaining in Azeroth are rounded up and imprisoned in internment camps like Durnholde.
I'm not sure about the next part, but I think that the survivors of the Alliance Expedition encounter A'dal when they flee into their portal, and with the assistance of the naaru are able to reestablish some footholds in Outland. In BC, Khadgar is in Shattrath, Trollbane is at Honor Hold, and Kurdran is at Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley. There is an alliance base in Terokkar named after Alleria, but neither she nor Turalyon are to be found in game. Their son, Arator, is in Honor Hold (he went their after the Dark Portal was re-opened).
I thought we would maybe find Alleria and Turalyon as prisoners in the Black Temple or something, but I guess not.
Yes, I am a geek, I find the lore of fantasy games extremely interesting to read.
One of them might be the prisoner in sunwell. When you do Magister's Terrace for the first time and use the orb you see a women (human I think) being held captive by three broken in some kind of portal insie the Sunwell.
That 'woman' is Anveena, the avatar of the sunwell. When the sunwell was destroyed, a red dragon called Korialstrasz (incidentally the hubby of the Dragonqueen, Alexstrasza) captured some of the scattered energy and manifested it into the form of a human girl, implanted with false memories. She was kept in Quel'thalas for safekeeping. There was a trilogy written about her adventures with Kalecgos and others.
In BC, it seems that Kael'thas, after being defeated at TK and returning to Quel'thalas, discovers the true nature of Anveena's identity. He kidnaps her and takes her to the location of the inactive sunwell, and begins draining her power to reactivate the sunwell, which will allow him to summon Kil'jaeden into Azeroth.
From the scripts of the Kil'jaeden fight, it appears Anveena will sacrifice herself in order to unleash the full fury of the sunwell's energy against Kil'jaeden, weakening him enough for the raid to defeat him.
