Around the end of June I got an email from the good people over at Figureprints dot com letting me know that I'd won their June lottery and would be able to order myself a Figureprint!
I knew pretty much immediately that I was going to print Qyn (probably not a big surprise) and then spent about a week putzing around with various gear, tabards and poses trying to figure out what the best combination would be.
The gallery on the Figureprints site didn't have many nelf females to check out so I was sort of flying blind as to what the final results might be if I chose a non-standard pose. After much hemming and hawing I decided that Qyn would be in tank gear, sporting the Amaranthian tabard, cloak and helm hidden, standing in the "one-handed weapon attack" pose.
I was a little worried about the quality of the print since Tier 5 Warrior gear is pretty dark and some of the previous prints in the Figureprints web gallery looked kinda funky and washed out. There was also some geometry clipping between the shoulders, shield and Qyn's face that worried me a bit. I emailed Figureprints support and asked what they did about that sort of thing and they assured me that their artists would take my selected character model and pose and tweak them as much as possible to avoid any oddities like geometry collisions or texture stretching.
It turns out that my fears were unwarranted as the Figureprints artists managed to position everything pretty well. The only odd bit that I wish they had left out is the tuft of hair shooting out from under Qyn's chin. It's almost the same color as her skin and so looks a little weird. I also wish that there was a bit more detail in her face (namely that her eyes were actually white and glowy) but the rest of the print looks great, in my opinion. The dark Destroyer armor and Amaranthian tabard look better than I'd expected they would.
The attached images were cropped a bit and resized but not color corrected or adjusted in any other way. The first one has my thumb and fingers in the photo for size reference and the last two are close-ups showing detail of the color saturation and the actual texture of the print itself which is sort of sandy looking because the print medium is a plaster-like dust. The whole process is explained in detail in this Wowinsider interview with the founder of the company for those curious minds among you.

Sat, 02/21/2009 - 1:38pmJust an update that Figureprints are now open to everyone. You no longer have to enter a lottery for a chance at being able to purchase one. I guess they got more printer things so they can now accommodate more orders.

I won another one of the lotteries right before they went public and wanted to get a figureprint of Qyn in full T6 with the Bulwark of Azzinoth. I haven't taken any photos or anything but I could do so if anyone was interested.
