I read a friend's copy back in like 2004, so I don't remember it too well. I'd like to read it again, but our friendly local comic book store is having a hard time keeping it in stock.
I've read it four times I think. I let my friend borrow it like a month ago and he still hasn't even started it. It's so great that I just want to read it again whenever I talk about it. I just finished volumes 1 and 2 of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen again (speaking of Alan Moore). I love those also. Too bad about the movie : /.

I agree about the movie, it had some great potential but fell flat on it's face.
I've read it only once, but plan to reread it before the movie comes out.
I have to admit that there were some lulls in the attention grabbing. I loved Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan. I was a little bored with Laurie and her mom's story. Comedian was interesting if a bit one dimensional but I think that was the point up until the end.
But the ending was good, and unexpected. I actually reread the last 30 pages or so.
Still, A+ for Alan Moore and I'll definitely be seeing the movie. :)
The best part about that book is how original it was at the time. Before Watchmen most comic books were the four color hero-beats-bad-guy type. Watchmen came out and changed everything. Moore flipped the whole genera on its head, making the good guys conflicted and the bad guys win (and possibly be in the right all along). He also did away with thought bubbles, which hadn't really been done before I don't think (and I think it's a really important innovation). That, along with the metafiction (the pirate comic book mirroring the story), really blows me away every time I read it. I hope they don't fuck up the movie too bad, it would be a real shame.
20th Century Fox has apparently sued Warner Bros. over the rights to Watchmen, so god only knows when the movie will be released at this point.
Which is really sad, because I probably would have been less excited had I not seen the trailer. I am such a sucker for trailers, really I am. I fall for it hook, line, and sinker.
Some interestingdocumentaries on the special effects behind the movie and the fact that many of the props, sets and backgrounds aren't just CG'd in during post production.
The movie was brilliant. Zack Snyder's adaptation really captured the comic, I think. He had to take some license with the plot but it was pretty minimal and the outcome was the same. I really enjoy the film. I think I'm going to go reread the comic again!
Yea Zack Snyder's original cut was over 4 hours long. I think he's going to release that on the DVD along with the sub-comic that takes place within Watchmen while you're reading it.
I thought the sex scene was way too long and bizarre with the soundtrack of "hallelujah" playing.
I was also disappointed with the flashback of Rorschach confronting the child molester/murderer. There was a lot more insight of Rorschach's character in the graphic novel compared to that scene.
Over all I liked it and felt it still had the majority of the elements true to the novel.
